Direction

Like most guys, I don’t like to ask for directions when driving. There’s been more than a few times this has led me 2hrs in the wrong direction. My wife loves this about me. In fact, our first semester up at Gordon-Conwell my lovely lady and I decided to take a trip into Boston. All we had was a cheap map and an unhealthy enthusiasm. The trip started out pretty good. But then, after a series of wrong turns and failed attempts to just ‘feel’ my way there…we ended up under the Chelsea Bridge. Now, I’m not sure what you know about Boston. But let me just say, the Chelsea Bridge after dark is not a place you want to be. I’m pretty sure we saw someone getting dumped in the river. But, all of this was due to the fact that we didn’t have any direction. We had good motives, good intentions but no direction. The same is true for all of us. Unless we have direction in our lives we just wander around aimlessly with no purpose, no mission, and no hope for the future. The same is also true for a church.

This week at Grace Church, we are starting a new 5 week series called ‘Direction’. I will be taking us through the DNA of Grace Church. What is our identity? What is our mission? Where is God taking us and how we’ll we get there? This series is the perfect opportunity to invite someone to Grace Church because it will give them HD clarity of who we are as a Body of Believers. At the same time, I have a feeling that as we walk through the church’s identity, mission, core values and vision many of you will begin to see your own identity and purpose. So, if there is someone you’ve been waiting for the right time to invite, allow me to say this, the time is now! I’ve been waiting to preach these messages for the last 8 months. So, I am pumped! Get to Grace Church this week and bring someone. It’s going to be an exciting and engaging series in the life of our church. Looking forward to it!
In Christ,
